Nate wroteMaybe we could still indicate the item is locked with a small lock icon overlay for the visibility column.
If I got it right, this way I guess there would be few issues.
Having two icons on each other would be maybe a bit confusing to me and harder to quickly recognise.
When I would look at it I would have to be considering 4 types of icons at one place
- locked & visible
- locked & not-visible
- unlocked & visible
- unlocked & non-visible
Having the icon indicators each in different place makes it easier to recognise.
I just look at the tree and see it by the placement of symbols.
Also the user should be able to:
- click on the visibility icon to toggle visibility by pressing some a button on UI or a keyboard shortcut
- click on the visibility icon to goffle lock / unlock by pressing some a button on UI or a keyboard shortcut
- lock / unlock independently from toggling visibility
...having the icons one on another wouldn't make this possible.
From my point of view as a designer & animator - it would be much more practical to me having a separated icon at it's own space.
But maybe it could be designed in a different way hmmm π or am I missing something? π
